PRIVACY POLICY

Human Be Privacy Policy

Human Be is dedicated to providing the best possible service to people interested in our project worldwide, but not at the expense of your personal privacy. We require some personal data from you in order to provide our services to you, but we always strive to do so with your consent and with transparency.

Data collected

We receive and store data that you provide to us when you create an account and during the visit of our website. When you create an account, we may collect your username, email address, blog name, blog URL and location. As you interact with us and use our website, we may also collect other data that you directly provide to us, pictures that you choose to upload, check-ins, comments, and any other data that you voluntarily provide to us.

We automatically receive data about your location and/or IP address whenever you interact with our services (e.g. visit our website, etc.). We may use various technologies to determine your location, such as the location services of your web browser. We may also collect additional data about you when you use our services. For example, we receive data:

  • relating to how you interact with our services, such as what pages you view, your access times, the time you spend on each page;
  • relating to your device, such as your hardware model, operating system, browser type, and language; and
  • collected by cookies and other technologies. You can control certain types of cookies through your browser settings or other tools.

Data Usage

To operate and improve our services
We may use your data to operate and maintain our services. We may also use your data for research and development, to improve our service and website, or to offer new features and tools, but only to the extent that this is in compliance with our Terms and Conditions, this Privacy Policy and applicable laws. For example, we may also use your data to customize our website to provide you with your own unique experience. Or we may use this data to redesign our website to make a better experience for all users.

Communicate with you
We may use your email address to communicate with you about issues with any of your submitted data (points or check-ins), or critical updates to our services. We may also contact you with marketing material which may be of interest, but only with your consent. If we contact you with marketing material we will provide the opportunity to easily opt out from these communications.

Protection of our rights
We may use your data if legally required to protect the rights, property or safety of Human Be, our users, staff members, or any third party.

Cookies

Our website uses HTTP cookies to store user-specific data.

Below we explain what cookies are and why they are used so that you can better understand the following data protection declaration.

What exactly are cookies?

Whenever you surf the Internet, use a browser. Well-known browsers include Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. Most websites store small text files in your browser. These files are called cookies.

One thing cannot be denied: Cookies are really useful helpers. Almost all websites use cookies. More specifically, they are HTTP cookies because there are also other cookies for other areas of application. HTTP cookies are small files that our website stores on your computer. These cookie files are automatically placed in the cookie folder, the "brain" of your browser. A cookie consists of a name and a value. When defining a cookie, one or more attributes must also be specified.

Cookies store certain user data about you, such as language or personal page settings. When you visit our site again, your browser transmits the "user-related" information back to our site. Thanks to cookies, our website knows who you are and offers you your usual standard setting. In some browsers, each cookie has its own file; in others, such as Firefox, all cookies are stored in a single file.

There are both first-party cookies and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are created directly by our website, third-party cookies are created by partner websites (e.g. Google Analytics). Each cookie is to be assessed individually, since each cookie stores different data. The expiration time of a cookie also varies from a few minutes to a few years. Cookies are not software programs and do not contain viruses, Trojans or other “pests”. Cookies also cannot access information from your PC.

For example, cookie data can look like this:

Name: _ga

Expiry time: 2 years

Use: Differentiation of website visitors

Example value: GA1.2.1326744211.152321166232

A browser should support the following minimum sizes:

A cookie should contain at least 4096 bytes

At least 50 cookies should be saved per domain

A total of at least 3000 cookies should be saved

What types of cookies are there?

The question of which cookies we use in particular depends on the services used and is clarified in the following sections of the data protection declaration. At this point we would like to briefly discuss the different types of HTTP cookies.

There are 4 types of cookies:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are necessary to ensure basic functions of the website. For example, these cookies are needed if a user places a product in the shopping cart, then surfs on other pages and only later checks out. These cookies do not delete the shopping cart, even if the user closes his browser window.

Functional cookies

These cookies collect information about user behavior and whether the user receives any error messages. These cookies are also used to measure the loading time and behavior of the website in different browsers.

Targeted cookies

These cookies make it easier to use. For example, entered locations, font sizes or form data are saved.

Advertising cookies

These cookies are also called targeting cookies. They serve to deliver customized advertising to the user. This can be very practical, but it can also be very annoying.

When you visit a website for the first time, you are usually asked which of these types of cookies you want to allow. And of course this decision is also saved in a cookie.

 Data sharing

We neither rent nor sell personal data of our users. Though, as described more fully in our Terms and Conditions, we may license or otherwise provide certain submitted data to third parties (such as points of interest.)

Data that may be shared

When you use Human Be’s services and submit reviews, points of interest or check-ins, you authorize all other users to see this data. These users will see your username, blog name and blog URL. Other users will not have access to your email address, unless you make it available in a comment or place description. Your check-in history, any content or comments that you post, and any places you add will be publicly visible. This publicly visible data may be searchable by search engines and be shared with or disclosed to third parties.

Human Be may use third party service providers to provide or perform services on our behalf. In these cases, we may need to share your data with them. Our service providers, vendors and contractors will only be allowed to process data in accordance with our prior written instructions.

We may share your data when we believe in good faith that such release is necessary to comply with law or a legal process, including laws outside your country of residence; to protect our rights, property, or safety, of our services and others.

Determining and sharing your location

Some features and functionality in our apps may require that you provide your location. If you have your location services turned on, whenever you interact with our services (for example, write a check in or add a place) we collect and use your location data from your mobile device. We use this data to tailor our services to your current location (i.e. we show you a list of nearby locations). Other than in an anonymized or aggregated form, your location is never shared with others, except with your consent.

Each of your check-ins is saved to your "Check-in History," which allows you to look back at the locations you have checked in since you created your account. You can delete any of your check-ins from your My Account page on the Human Be website. For assistance removing your account and data please see “How do I access or delete my data?” below.

Embedded social media elements privacy policy

We integrate elements of social media services on our website to display images, videos and texts.

By visiting pages that represent these elements, data is transferred from your browser to the respective social media service and stored there. We have no access to this data.

The following links lead you to the pages of the respective social media services, where it is explained how they handle your data:

We will not be able to restore your account once it has been deleted. Residual copies of your data may remain on backup media for a period of time afterwards. Additionally, we may store certain data that is not considered your personal data, i.e. does not directly identify you. We may also retain data as required by applicable law.

Can I opt out?

At this time Human Be does not participate in any interest-based marketing or advertising to our users. If in the future we do provide any marketing email, we will always have an easy way to opt-out from these communications.

Your legal rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have a number of rights regarding the processing of your personal data, including:

Personal data retention

The criteria for determining the duration for which we will keep your personal data are as follows: we will retain copies of your data only for as long as is necessary in connection with the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless applicable law requires a longer retention period. In addition, we may retain your data for the duration of any period necessary to establish, exercise or defend any legal rights.

International users

Our website and our data, including your data, are hosted on servers in the Germany. If you are using Human Be’s services from outside of Germany, your data will be processed and stored in Germany. As a result, United States federal and state governments, courts, or law enforcement or regulatory agencies may be able to obtain your data through applicable laws. These may or may not be the same privacy protections as the law of your jurisdiction.

Updates to this Privacy Policy

Human Be may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to regularly check this page and review any changes we might make to this Privacy Policy. If we make substantial changes in the way we use your data, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our websites or apps, or by sending you an email (if we have your email).

Google reCAPTCHA data protection declaration

Our primary goal is that our website is as safe and secure as possible for you and for us. To ensure this, we use Google reCAPTCHA from Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheater Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). With reCAPTCHA we can determine whether you really are a flesh and blood person and not a robot or other spam software. We understand spam to mean any electronically undesirable information that we receive without being asked. With the classic CAPTCHAS, you usually had to solve text or picture puzzles to check. With reCAPTCHA from Google, we usually don't have to bother you with such puzzles. In most cases, it is enough to simply tick the box and confirm that you are not a bot. With the new Invisible reCAPTCHA version you don't even have to tick the box. You can find out exactly how this works and, above all, what data is used for this in the course of this data protection declaration.

The legal basis for the use is Article 6 (1) f (lawfulness of processing), because there is a legitimate interest in protecting this website from bots and spam software.

What is reCAPTCHA?

reCAPTCHA is a free captcha service from Google that protects websites from spam software and misuse by non-human visitors. This service is most commonly used when filling out forms on the Internet. A captcha service is an automatic Turing test that is designed to ensure that an action on the Internet is done by a person, not a bot. In the classic Turing test (named after computer scientist Alan Turing), a person ascertains the distinction between bot and person. At Captchas, the computer or a software program does the same. Classic captchas work with small tasks that are easy to solve for humans, but have considerable difficulties for machines. With reCAPTCHA, you no longer have to actively solve puzzles. The tool uses modern risk techniques to distinguish people from bots. Here you only have to tick the text field "I am not a robot" or with Invisible reCAPTCHA even this is no longer necessary. At reCAPTCHA, a JavaScript element is integrated into the source text and then the tool runs in the background and analyzes your user behavior. The software calculates a so-called captcha score from these user actions. Google uses this score to calculate the likelihood that you are human before entering the captcha. ReCAPTCHA or Captchas in general are always used when bots could manipulate or abuse certain actions (such as registrations, surveys, etc.).

Why do we use reCAPTCHA on our website?

We only want to welcome flesh-and-blood people on our side. Bots or spam software of all kinds can safely stay at home. That is why we are doing everything possible to protect ourselves and offer you the best possible user friendliness. For this reason, we use Google reCAPTCHA from Google. So we can be pretty sure that we will remain a "bot-free" website. By using reCAPTCHA, data is transmitted to Google, which Google uses to determine whether you really are human. reCAPTCHA thus serves the security of our website and subsequently also your security. For example, without reCAPTCHA it could happen that a bot registers as many e-mail addresses as possible when registering, in order to subsequently "spam" forums or blogs with unwanted advertising content. With reCAPTCHA we can avoid such bot attacks.

What data does reCAPTCHA store?

ReCAPTCHA collects personal data from users to determine whether the actions on our website really come from people. So the IP address and other data that Google needs for the reCAPTCHA service can be sent to Google. Within the member states of the EU or other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area, IP addresses are almost always shortened before the data ends up on a server in the USA. The IP address will not be combined with other Google data unless you are logged in with your Google account while using reCAPTCHA. First, the reCAPTCHA algorithm checks whether Google cookies from other Google services (YouTube, Gmail, etc.) have already been placed on your browser. Then reCAPTCHA sets an additional cookie in your browser and takes a snapshot of your browser window.

The following list of collected browser and user data is not exhaustive. Rather, they are examples of data that we understand to be processed by Google.

  • Referrer URL (the address of the page the visitor comes from)
  • IP address (e.g. 256.123.123.1)
  • Information about the operating system (the software that enables your computer to operate. Known operating systems are Windows, Mac OS X or Linux)
  • Cookies (small text files that save data in your browser)
  • Mouse and keyboard behavior (every action you take with the mouse or keyboard is saved)
  • Date and language settings (which language or which date you have preset on your PC is saved)
  • All Javascript objects (JavaScript is a programming language that allows websites to adapt to the user. JavaScript objects can collect all possible data under one name)
  • Screen resolution (shows how many pixels the image display consists of)

It is undisputed that Google uses and analyzes this data even before you click on the checkmark "I am not a robot". In the Invisible reCAPTCHA version, there is even no ticking and the entire recognition process runs in the background. How much and what data Google stores is not known from Google in detail.

The following cookies are used by reCAPTCHA: Here we refer to the reCAPTCHA demo version from Google at https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api2/demo. All of these cookies require a unique identifier for tracking purposes. Here is a list of cookies that Google reCAPTCHA has set on the demo version:

The cookie contains a unique ID that Google uses to collect the user's personal settings for advertising purposes.

Example value: 0WmuWqy331585725390zILzqV_nmt3sDXwPeM5Q

Name: DV

Expiry time: after 10 minutes

Example value: gEAABBCjJMXcI0dSAAAANbqc331585725390

Note: This list cannot claim to be complete, since experience has shown that Google always changes the choice of cookies.

How long and where is the data stored?

By inserting reCAPTCHA, your data will be transferred to the Google server. Where exactly this data is stored is not clearly shown by Google, even after repeated inquiries. Without having received confirmation from Google, it can be assumed that data such as mouse interaction, length of stay on the website or language settings on the European or American Google- Servers are saved. The IP address that your browser transmits to Google is generally not merged with other Google data from other Google services. However, if you are logged into your Google account while using the reCAPTCHA plug-in, the data will be merged. The different data protection regulations of the company Google apply.

How can I delete my data or prevent data storage?

If you want no data about you and your behavior to be transmitted to Google, you must log out of Google completely and delete all Google cookies before you visit our website or use the reCAPTCHA software. Basically, the data is automatically sent to Google as soon as you visit our website. To delete this data again, you must contact Google Support at https://support.google.com/?hl=de&tid=331585725390.

If you use our website, you agree that Google LLC and its representatives automatically collect, edit and use data.

You can find out more about reCAPTCHA on Google's web developer page at https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/. Google goes into more detail here about the technical development of reCAPTCHA, but there is also no vain search for precise information about data storage and data protection-related topics there. We have given a lot of thought to the type of shipping. In principle, there are two options to choose from, container or RoRo shipping.

Pros and Cons Container

Shipping in the container is the safest way to protect yourself from theft and damage in transit, unfortunately it is also almost 40% more expensive. If you want maximum security for the content and the attachments in the car, you should choose this.

Benefits:

  • Vehicle is protected from unauthorized access
  • In the destination port, the container is only opened in the presence of the owner
  • Car keys remain with you

Disadvantage:

  • 40% higher price for a 20 foot container (6m)
  • Entry height limited to 2.26m
  • High cost of container pick-up is around US $ 1800
  • Only possible with agents
  • Tent must be removed
  • Boxes cannot remain on the roof
  • Containers that go overboard due to swell are very expensive to salvage

Pros and Cons Roro

Due to the lower price and the possibility to insure the vehicle content, we decided on the RoRo variant. We hand Harry over to Mr. Hansen from the Caravan Shippers in Hamburg at the port and he then sets off in the belly of the ship on his journey to Montevideo.

Benefits:

  • Price-performance ratio
  • no agent necessary
  • Pick up in Montevideo with the help of instructions
  • Content can be insured (€ 500 deductible)
  • Different categories can be booked based on the height of the vehicle (comparable to the Mediterranean ferries)

Disadvantage:

  • Vehicle key must be handed in
  • no access control to the vehicle
  • not an expensive agent who organizes everything

We will tell you whether everything worked out as soon as we picked Harry up in Montevideo.

How did you choose your agent?

In principle there are 3 providers that offer shipping from Germany, CaravanShipper, Seabridge and Mafratours. We are not 100% sure, but the same provider seems to be behind Seabridge and Mafratours.

The offers from these providers have resulted in slightly higher prices and lower benefits than with caravan shippers, especially the insurance benefits that only involve additional costs. In addition, the pricing of both providers was opaque and a price is only finally set after the ship has left.

Not so with Caravan Shippers, here there was a fixed price based on the vehicle as an offer including insurance for the content. The sum insured can also be increased against a corresponding surcharge; we have increased it to € 5000 for a surcharge of € 50. We had contact with Mr. Hansen who took a lot of time for us and the advice.

Nachteile:
